About me

I am working as a professional biologist for the Dutch ministry of defense. In daily life, I am working on the monitoring of vegetation on military ranges. This includes mainly sequential vegetation mapping, but other methods to follow vegetation through time are applied as well.

As a PhD fellow, I am working on the ecology and functioning of woodland edge communities in the Northwest European sand landscapes. Two major plant genera that can be found here are Rubus (brambles) and Hieracium (hawkweeds), and these are the central topic of my doctorate study. At the moment, I am busy with a taxonomical revision of the later genus.

Besides work, I am an enthousiastic amateur photographer and musician. Some of my photography work can be found in the gallery on this website. As a musician I play electic guitar and congas, mainly with a group in the church I am attending.
